== VanGow 2018 ==


VanGow is a team competing in Sensus 2018, its university is the TU Eindhoven. For Sensus 2018, VanGow investigated the possibilities for creating a biosensor which is able to measure the concentration of [[Vancomycin]]. ==Molecular Recognition ==

The vancomyocin is bound by a monoclonal antibody bound to the cartridge surface and a polyclonal antibody bound to a magnetic bead then binds to the vancomyocin.

== Physical Transduction ==

The magnetic field of the beads is measured using an external magnetic field applied to the beads. The TMR sensor then changes resistance based on the amount of vancomyocin bound, which is read and the concentration can then be calculated.

== Cartridge ==

The cartridge is disposable and the sample is pipetted onto it after mixing with the detection polyclonal antibodies.

== Reader Instrument ==

The TMR sensor is linked to an arduino microcontroller, which calculates the concentration of vancomyocin and can link to an iOS app, update the patients records, connect to a printer to print out the records and display the measured concentration on an LCD screen.
